This is not the first time that a digital assistants is being tuned to the tastes to the indigenous flavour. According to
a report , Amazon Echo speakers are on their way to assist Indians, and not only the urban crowd.

Now Alexa can answer basic questions like national holidays and festivals. Interestingly she
Amazon.com Inc. is starting to learn Hinglish. The US-based e-commerce company is beginning to ship Echo speakers in
India this week, about a year after bringing them to foreign markets like the UK and Germany. In that time, teams of
linguists, speech scientists, developers and engineers have given a decidedly local makeover to the Alexa virtual
assistant that powers the
 speakers.
Earlier this month, Amazon promised it would bring its Echo line of smart speakers to the competitive e-commerce

battleground of India. The devices, including the Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot, were initially available through an
invite-only program. Today, Amazon says those orders are now shipping to customers, and will arrive in November.
To encourage sales, earlier Echo adopters were offered an introductory discount of 30 percent off the purchase price and
one year of Prime membership.


This Alexa uses a blend of Hindi and English and speaks with an unmistakably Indian accent.
She knows Independence Day is August 15th, not July 4th, and wishes listeners “Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year!”
 She also refers to the living room as ‘drawing room’ and can add jeera (cumin), haldi (turmeric) and atta (flour) to
 your shopping list. Then there are her cricket jokes. (Don’t ask.)
“We wanted our devices to talk, walk and feel Indian,” said Parag Gupta, head of product management for Amazon Devices
 in India. “Alexa is not a visiting American, she has a very Indian personality.”


Amazon isn’t alone. Technology giants from Apple Inc. to Google are targeting this nation of 1.3 billion people by
 training virtual assistants in the heterogeneity of its languages and subcultures. Though many people understand
 American or British English, they’re more comfortable with assistants who sound more like them.

Times of India, NDTV, Reuters, and ESPNcricinfo for news and flash briefings; and local weather. Amazon Music will sit
alongside other music services integrated into the service like Saavn (“India’s Spotify”) and TuneIn.

A small asteroid or comet that has been spotted racing through our solar system may have come from elsewhere in the galaxy
, US space scientists say, possibly marking the first such interstellar visitor observed from Earth.
The mystery object, so far known only as A/2017 U1, was discovered earlier this month by a researcher using a
sophisticated telescope system at the University of Hawaii that continually scans the universe for such phenomenon.
"We have been waiting for this day for decades," said Paul Chodas, manager of the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration's Center for Near Earth Object Studies at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Astronomers were stunned to see the first known object flung through our cosmic neighborhood from interstellar space.
That is, until the University of Hawaii's Pan-STARRS 1 telescope last week discovered what appears to be the first ever seen "interstellar object" -- an asteroid (or maybe a comet) that escaped from the gravitational grasp of another star and fell through the roof of our solar system.

That makes the object currently designated A/2017 U1 an alien of sorts around our corner of the cosmos.

The foreign space-something is less than a quarter-mile (400 meters) across, but is moving super fast at 15.8 miles
 (25.5 kilometers) per second. That's over three times faster than Asteroid 2012 TC4, the rock that gave Earth a close
 shave earlier this month.


A/2017 U1 dropped into our neighborhood from "above" the relatively flat ecliptic plane in space
where the planets and other asteroids orbit the sun. So, if you imagine our solar system as being more or
less flat, it's as if the object dropped in out of the sky. But rather than impacting anything in our solar system,
 the object passed closer to the sun than the orbit of Mercury on Sept. 2 before making a hairpin turn under
 our solar system and getting flung back out of town.

Weryk immediately realized this was an unusual object. "Its motion could not be explained using either a normal
solar system asteroid or comet orbit," he said. Weryk contacted IfA graduate Marco Micheli,
who had the same realization using his own follow-up images taken at the European Space Agency's
telescope on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. But with the combined data, everything made sense. Said Weryk, "This object came from outside our solar system." 

"This is the most extreme orbit I have ever seen," said Davide Farnocchia, a scientist at NASA's Center for
 Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) at the agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. "It is going
 extremely fast and on such a trajectory that we can say with confidence that this object is on its way out of
 the solar system and not coming back."

Mnochrome:

Monochrome automatically turns on monochrome (or black & white) mode when your battery is low, to further reduce display power consumption when your
battery level is low. This means your device can last longer when its battery is low.



Monochrome is triggered when your device's battery level hits the LOW level as defined by the OEM (usually 15%) and Monochrome is triggered again when your
 battery level hits the OKAY level (usually 30%) as defined by the OEM. When your battery level reaches the LOW state, Monochrome is turned on and when your
battery level reaches the OKAY state, Monochrome is turned off. This is all done automatically so you don't have to manage anything.

Monochrome also works on the GPU level, so Monochrome does not implement a hidden/invisible view on top of apps to enforce black and white colors.
This means Monochrome does not run in the background and/or constantly monitor your battery level, it's only activated when your battery reaches LOW or OKAY states
 and after enabling/disabling B/W mode on the GPU level, Monochrome simply exits.

Why isn't it allowed to define your own battery percentage values to trigger Monochrome on/off?
This is because if the user was allowed to define the battery percentage values themselves, then the app will have to constantly run in the background and
monitor changes to battery level, which will have a negative effect on battery life. Monochrome takes advantage of two system broadcasts: android.intent.action.
BATTERY_LOW and android.intent.action.BATTERY_OKAY which are sent when the battery level is LOW and OKAY respectively. By taking advantage of these broadcasts,
 Monochrome is only triggered twice, instead of constantly monitoring changes in background and activating/deactivating when the battery level hits a user
 specified amount. This prevents Monochrome from having a negative effect on the overall device battery life.

Monochrome requires ROOT. If you are NOT ROOTED then you need to manually grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission to the app by executing the following ADB command:

4: Doze :
We all know that data is one of the biggest power drain. If you keep your data on all the day, apps can run out of full battery even without using your phone.

When screen is off, Doze prevents your apps from sending or receiving data without disabling your Wi-Fi or 2G/3G/4G data. In this way it adds more hours to standby time and makes significant difference to battery life.
Apps can resume normal activity when screen is on.


It's different from Power-saving mode in Android Lollipop (Android 5).
1. If you enable power-saving mode in Lollipop, it turns off you data and only when you manually open the apps can they receive data again.

NOTE: Android 5.0 is now required. Versions up to v3.16 that support 4.4 KitKat are still available from the XDA thread (see far below). Performance drop since v3.60? Turn on performance mode.

When using the default settings, your display will get a warmer tint (lower color temperature) when the sun is down, vastly reducing strain on the eyes. Blue light makes your brain want to stay awake, and a lower color temperatures reduces the amount of blue displayed; using this in the evening reduces your brain's effort to keep you awake at night.

During sleeping hours by default a red filter is used. Red strains your eyes the least, and retains your night vision. 

Light sensor

The light sensor can be used to automagically adjust the color: switch to the sleep filter in full dark, or to the day filter (usually none) under bright lights. 

Because light sensor quality varies wildly between devices, a calibration option is provided to experiment with.

Color filters

Several filters are provided. Those named after a color (red, green, blue, ...) do not limit the display to those colors, but convert the displayed image to grayscale first, then display that image in levels of the selected color. This preserves details that would otherwise be lost.

Grayscale, invert colors, temperature adjustment and custom R/G/B adjustment filters are also provided.

Colorblindness

The master color filter setting also has an option for colorblindness enhancement, with settings for protanopia/anomaly, deuteranopia/anomaly and tritanopia/anomaly. These options in theory enhance clarity and color detail.

No claims are made to the effectiveness of these filters. These filters were thought up by Google engineers, CF.lumen just includes them.

Pro version

Upgrading to CF.lumen Pro will support my developments, remove all nags, unlock the option to start at device boot (make sure you test your configuration first), and unlocks notification options. It also enables Tasker integration.

In Pro mode, the notification adds convenient buttons to quickly disable the current filter or switch to sleep mode, and you can switch the notification to when enabled mode, which shows the notification only when a color filter is active.

In non-Pro mode, the notification only asks you to upgrade to Pro. It may seem that notification is just there to annoy you, but it actually prevents Android from randomly killing the background service taking care of all the work. Getting rid of it without getting the service killed can be done by going to Settings -> Apps -> CF.lumen and unticking Show notifications.

Having Chainfire3D Pro (ancient) installed will enable Pro.

Performance

When no color filter is active, there should not be any noticeable performance impact. When a filter is active, impact depends on device and what you are doing. On some devices we have tested there was no performance impact at all, on others it was slightly noticeable. It also depends on the driver in use.

Future

Keep in mind that Android's rendering system changes over time. You should be aware that this app may simply stop working on future Android versions without the possibility of a fix.

Scary permissions

By far most permissions are used only for Google Maps to set your location, and Google Play to provide for In-App Purchases. I cannot make any claims as to what information the Google components do or do not send to Google servers, but no information is sent to me or anyone else (than Google).

DriveDroid allows you to boot your PC from ISO/IMG files stored on your phone. This is ideal for trying Linux distributions or always having a rescue-system on the go... without the need to burn different CDs or USB pendrives.

DriveDroid also includes a convenient download menu where you can download USB-images of a number of operating systems from your phone (like Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE and Arch Linux). Around 35 different systems are available at this moment.

You can also create blank USB-images which allows you to have a blank USB-drive. From your PC you can store files onto the USB-drive, but also use tools on your PC to write images to the drive.

Notes
• This application uses features of the kernel that may or may not be available/stable on your phone. Tests have shown most phones work without problems, but please keep in mind yours might not (yet) work out-of-the-box.
• Most kernels support emulating USB drives, some support emulating CD-rom drives and kernels with the right patches support both.
• Most Linux-related ISOs can be booted from USB drives, but some ISOs can only be booted from CD-rom drives or require some kind of conversion.
